Bruce Lerch Meet Information

Cross Country Parents:
Here’s the information regarding the Bruce Lerch Invitational at Brecksville High School:
· Athletes need to be at Learwood at 5:50 a.m.
· Bus leaves at 6 a.m.
· Boys’ Team runs at 8:30 a.m.
Patrick Schulte, Ryan Becker, Brandon Baiers, Robert Hoffman, Alex Holtz, Christian Stephens, and Stefan Nieschwitz
· Girls’ Team runs at 9 a.m.
Julia Jantz, Allie Spensley, Audrey Spensley, Juliana Dotson, Emily Lambert, Josephine Klingshirn, and Sarah Lucas
· Boys’ Open (all other boy runners) runs at 9:30 a.m.
· Girls’ Open (all other girl runners) runs at 10 a.m.
· Our estimated time of arrival back at Learwood is noon. We will have athletes call home when we are almost back in Avon Lake!
· We will try to locate our tent near the finish line. Any parents that want to find their child can look there, and we would appreciate any supervision after the race. There will be more down-time for athletes at this meet, so any parents at the campsite are encouraged to direct athletes to the course so they can cheer on teammates after their race!
Some reminders about the meet:
· Bring something to eat as it will be a long ride home.
· Parents, Brecksville is asking that you park either at the high school or the middle school, but DO NOT PARK IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARKING LOT.
· Make sure to sign out your child with Coach Walters. She will either be at the start/finish line (this meet’s start/finish is in the same area) or the team campsite (which is also close to the start/finish).
· This race’s results will be posted online: www.baumspage.com. On that webpage, click on Cross Country. Then scroll down to Bruce Lerch Invitational (9/10/11).
· This course is not fan-friendly…basically the runners will run uphill, turn around, and run downhill. There should be course maps at the meet (at the elementary school…right by our campsite), but you really will only be able to see the start and finish of the race.
· This is a very fun atmosphere, however, so you might want to bring money for t-shirts, food, and Dippin’ Dots (if you want).
About the team:
· The team is improving! Last week was awesome: athletes performed well as a team and a lot of individual goals were set and broken. We also got a lot of help with the campsite, and team support was great. Keep it up!
· Continue to display excellent sportsmanship at this meet—we get a lot of compliments from other teams/coaches on the size, talent, and especially the behavior of our Avon Lakers. Keep this up as well!
· This meet will help determine who runs team/open races at next week’s Wadsworth Invitational. The top 7 runners will be on team, all other runners will be open runners, but all runners will have the opportunity to run.
· Please check The Press as we have been sending results to the paper the last couple of weeks.
· The kids voted on a quote for the back of their t-shirts. This was the winning quote:
CROSS COUNTRY
No halftimes, no time-outs, no substitutions
It must be the only true sport
· Finally, if an athlete is injured you can take him/her to the ALHS trainer at the high school. She is available after school, but said 3:30 – 4 p.m. is the least busy time. Also, there will be a doctor there on Tuesdays from 3 – 3:30 p.m. (free of charge). No appointment is necessary to see the trainer.
Thanks for your help so far this season, see you Saturday!
